Postdoctoral fellows recognized at last year's Postdoc Reception:

Research is fundamental to the mission of UNC Charlotte, and faculty, staff and students from virtually every discipline are engaged in the creation of novel discoveries. Another important group of contributors is postdoctoral fellows.

These individuals, who have completed their Ph.Ds., often work for one to two years as part of a research team, and they contribute greatly to advancing the University’s research agenda, said Robert Wilhelm, vice chancellor for research and economic, at a special reception recently in the Student Union Art Gallery.

He also expressed his appreciation to the advisors of the postdoctoral fellows for their commitment to mentor these researchers, who represent future faculty members at institutes of higher education.

The Center for Graduate Life and the ADVANCE Faculty Affairs and Diversity Office hosted the reception.

“We wanted to create an opportunity to celebrate the important contributions that our postdoctoral fellows make to the University, as well as give them an opportunity to meet each other so they can build connections across campus,” said (Dr. Katherine Hall-Hertel, Associate Dean, Graudate Academic & Student Affairs and Dr. Andrea Dulin, Project Director, UNC Charlotte ADVANCE Faculty Affairs and Diversity Office ).post doctoral reception november 2016
