Aura Young joined UNC Charlotte’s Graduate School in 2017. Dr. Young coordinates the CGLL's communication and marketing efforts, organizes professional development programming for graduate students and postdocs, provides formatting and dissertation support, facilitates the online TA training course and academic integrity course, advises the Graduate Life Fellows, and helps organize orientation and commencement activities. She serves on the board of the US Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Association and is working to educate the campus community on the advantages and benefits of Open Access publishing, as well as cultivate a writing culture among graduate students. Dr. Young’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from UNC Chapel Hill, a master’s degree from Duke University, and a doctorate from Yale University. Formerly, her area of expertise was nineteenth-century Russian literature, but now she is passionate about improving the graduate student experience and helping to ensure the success of master’s and doctoral students.
