Cultural Calendar: Lotus Lantern Festival

In South Korea every year on the weekend before Buddha’s Birthday a celebration takes place, which is known as the Lotus Lantern Festival. The holiday is marked with colorful lanterns that symbolically convey wisdom and compassion of the sage, while temples hold cultural performances. This holiday is widely observed in many Asian nations, however, due to differences in historical records, different countries celebrate the holiday on different days.

There are many benefits to attending this cultural event.
