While the Graduate School confers degrees after each term (Spring, Summer, and Fall), Commencement at UNC Charlotte is held just twice annually, once in May and once in December. Students who graduate in Summer or Fall participate in the December Commencement ceremony.
PARTICIPATION IN THE CEREMONY
In order to participate (or "walk") in the Commencement ceremony, students must have successfully completed all degree requirements and submitted all required forms by the published deadlines, including the Online Graduation Application (please refer to the Registrar's Calendar for these deadlines). Students should expect to receive their diploma or certificate 6-8 weeks after the ceremony. (Be sure to update your email and mailing address through my.uncc.edu in order to receive important information updates as well as your diploma or certificate.)
- Detailed instructions on the ceremony can be found on the University's Commencement website.
UNC Charlotte is pleased to announce that we will host in-person commencement ceremonies for the May 2021 graduates in the Jerry Richardson Football Stadium May 13, 14 and 15. The ceremonies will be live streamed and recorded. More information can be found on the University's Commencement website.
Students who apply for May 2021 graduation, will be able to submit their cap and gown order online through Oak Hall starting Monday, March 22. The last day to place an order is Friday, May 28. Students will be notified through their UNC Charlotte email when the order link is available. Your student fees cover this basic regalia. For doctoral graduates, UNC Charlotte also offers custom regalia, which you must order and pay for through our special link to Oak Hall. For more information about custom regalia, see the Commencement site.
