What We Offer

The CGL recognizes the competing demands in the lives of graduate students. In an effort to accommodate different professional needs and schedules, the CGL’s professional development initiatives are offered in various formats ranging from specialized, credit-bearing GRAD professional skills courses to virtual training. Content for these programs are developed with the Graduate School's core competencies in mind, as well as those topics which graduate students deem most critical for their personal and professional/career development.

Academic Courses
Credit-bearing GRAD courses:  Taught by graduate faculty housed in the CGL, GRAD courses are for students who seek more in-depth skill development in the areas of academic writing, teaching and career development.

Facilitated by some of UNC Charlotte’s most renowned faculty, these popular 60-90 minute workshops cover topics like grant writing, presentation skills, publishing in scholarly journals, and understanding the academic job search.

  • Virtual Training
  • Professional Skills Modules:  A series of prescribed extended workshops which upon completion, results in a transcript notation.

From outstanding professional development workshops, to academic seminars and life-balance wellness events, the CGL's event calendar has something for everyone.
